  2. Have you thought about going outside of your own country and experience so many different things in other countries? Can you imagine how exciting is to learn different culture, language, and people? Read the story of a girl, Jin, who came to study in Canada all the way from South Korea. Her life is all about getting along with others and getting herself fit into the culture which she is in. Jin has a lot more stories in different counties like Japan and United States. Listen to her thoughts and experience what she has gone through. It’s not just fun but also impressive.

Life is never boring, actually life itself is a miracle. Life was comfortable and simple at my early age. When i got older, at a winter, i fell into the water while playing with my friends.Fortunately the pond is not deep and i was saved, when i was sent home i can never forget my mother's eyes, they were just full of love and pity. When i bacame a teenager, i wanted to see the world. So i left my homeland and came to the country of maple alone. In that year, i was 16. Now i am 20, a word always comes to my mind, it is responsibility. Here i am, an adult in Grant Macewan! I know some day one of my family member will gone forever which is a natural rule and i have to accept it; i know i have to work hard to find the true meaning of happiness, i know that i am who i am and no one can change me; i know.......life continues!

  5. I moved to the big city of Edmonton longing to fulfill my appetite for adventure. Constantly I am thriving to discover new places and meet new people. Now I’m taking the plunge into college life! In one lifetime I have experienced everything from life on the farm to Northern Alberta’s vast oil sands. I have travelled around the world encountering the honourable Eiffel Tower and experiencing the exquisite mountains of Alaska. Now, alongside a whacky childhood friend, it’s time to capture the big city lifestyle. In a short time I will discover the surprises, the excitement and the many extraordinary experiences that are about to come my way.

Father took his life, I was too young to have known him. From the beginning, my mother was the only one I knew, the only one I learned from. Which probably contributed to some of my metrosexuality. She worked to extremes to support us. Volunteering at bingo halls on the little spare time she had, working for credit towards my hockey admission fee. Free from direction, aside from mother, the angst I had pent up inside from feelings of abandonment released, slowly escalating. From expulsions at school, I graduated to breaking the law. Wreaking havoc on surrounding neighbourhoods and stores. Anything providing that elusive adrenaline rush would do. Then it went way too far.

Living in Edmonton all his life, Khurrum is essentially the guy who “takes care of things”. Ranging from his volunteer work in a Millwood’s youth center, setting up home theatre systems, or rebuilding race engines, he accepts the challenge. Born on April 2, 1990, He is a Muslim raised Canadian student continually trying to diversify his life by meeting and engaging with new and culturally distinctive people. The newest and possibly most stimulating challenge being taken is a four year degree program to earn a Bachelor of Commerce. The adventure lifts off as he hunts for knowledge like a starving animal hunts for food. Steve Droke said it best when he said "Knowledge is power and enthusiasm pulls the switch...”

Sitting down at her regular spot in Cameron Library at the University of Alberta. Books opened in front of her, ready to be read. Assignments due in the next 24 hours. Finals coming within a week. Confused thoughts of what she wants to do and where she wants to be in life running through her head. Spending reckless times with friends rather then going to classes and learning about the materials she had paid for. Finally regretting her actions after the first year of post-secondary being over. Luckily, given the chance to transfer over to Grant Macewan for a new beginning. How will it all turn out?

  15. The fundamentals of the Canadian Justice System seem vague and unsettle to prospective law student Michael Hennessey, who, with dreams and aspirations as wide as the Earth's horizon plans to help the nation reevaluate and modernize its legal doctrine. For years, his ability to interpret legal documents with great precision has enabled him to further understand how our society revolves around a constitutional set of rules which can be found in the Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms. The in-depth analysis to the life of this high-spirited individual shows that with a fine balance between work and social life, the reward for success can only be put in that of a history book.

    Here is his story.

Existence can be defined as a sequence of infinite failures intermittently laden with illusions of success. Real success, however, is only realized when one refuses to deem himself successful, and thus evades complacency. I was born and raised in the Edmonton area and allocate the majority of my time to creating music, playing sports, working, and most recently to academic pursuits. In my twenty-one years of growth I have achieved some tangible success in these fields by accomplishing things that can be quantified, and subsequently recognized, by society. I am not naïve enough to consider these my true laurels though…

Using wit, savvy, and more high priced digital equipment than you can shake a stick at, will Jamie achieve his goal of breaking into the music industry or wind up pushing pencils with the masses...

Surrounded by people who couldn't put a name to a face, Kayla Harris embarked on a new adventure to overthrow her adolescent childhood, moving towards what hopes to be a promising future. With eighteen years of courage under her belt, she now moves to Grant MacEwan campus, only recognizing the passing of her own twin sister between a class. Other then that, she is left utterly, and entirely alone. Having high ambitions to turn her High School accomplishments into a flourishing well-known business, she stands today, wide-eyed, jittery, and eager to get on with the rest of her life. If her first day of classes is any indication of how the next four years will pan out, she might just be a tad in over her head. On the phone with her best friend, Shawna, an hour before her first class of the school year, she was lost. Will this short and stumpy little wonder ever find her way? Or will she crash and burn under the pressure to stay on top?

Hm m… who am I – well I am a contradiction of terms. Old fashioned while at the same time extremely modernized. Relatively young but every so often I feel old, as if life is slipping away from me, and there’s not enough time to accomplish all that I set out to. Usually I prefer to stay under the radar, so to speak but at certain times I find myself quite in the thick of things – I’m told it’s because I’m highly argumentative. That’s a matter of opinion, I know what I know and believe what I believe and until someone can honestly prove why I’m wrong then I am going to defend it till the death. O yeah I don’t shut up! That’s another thing I’m told.

Soon the colourful notes of music leapt out and captured Mark’s desire and imagination, and seemed to quall the turmoil he was in. But then no one, not even Mark, could forsee what was about was about to happen next.

Spending her childhood in India and then growing up in Edmonton, after moving at the age of 10. Graduating in 2006 from high school, she decided to go back and travel in India. Seeing how most people there would do almost anything to get out of India to explore better career opportunities. She realized how lucky she is to actually be able to get an education right here in Edmonton. In high school being great in math, she decided to apply for the Bachelor of Commerce program. Although still undecided on what exactly she wants to do. She knows she is progressing in a good direction of life. Hopefully, the next four years will help her get to where she wants to be.
