  1. The social-networking revolution is here; Facebook is the most popular social networking site among online Canadian users. As explained in “Canadian teens flock to social networking sites” by Hugh Thompson, in the last 18 months alone, Facebook users have increased by 24%. Although it is still considered to be teen-centric, “Ipsos estimates the number of online Canadian adults with a social network profile is 56%, up from 39% in 2007.” Facebook has clearly outdone other sites such as MySpace, and Windows Live Space, and it is possible that it is the new method of communication between teens. Thompson claims that 76% of Canadians between the ages of 12-17 have social networking sites such as Facebook. These rapidly growing numbers suggest that it is indeed a new form of communication, if not already a prime one. There is little doubt that Facebook users will not multiply throughout the following years increasing online networking among Canadians.
